I just sold my 1vHS a few months ago. IMO, best 35mm ever made. I loved that camera. Did not use it for over a year. You have to move on. I'm not a collector.

I could say that I shoot both, but I'd be lying. I haven't shot a roll of film in over 2 years, though I have a few rolls in the freezer and a couple of film cameras. I just don't have any interest in film any more.

Very true - I'm not sure how much more time has to pass before I admit to myself that I no longer shoot film - the last roll was August 05....and the prints came back all grotty and spattered, like the machine they used hadn't been cleaned in a while...yuk. by contast, digital prints I had made at the same time in the same shop were perfect.

The only film I use now is medium or large format.

I agree with grubs. If you are going to shoot film you are better off getting a larger format negative to do it with. I walk around with my XTi and click away till i find that one awesome shot, then bust out the Medium Format camera. From my experience 35mm isnt much nicer than the SLR digitals so it is a waste to hassle with all the negatives of film to get a maybe slightly nicer shot. Medium or large format is the way to go if you want beautiful shots from film, and used you can get it for about the same.

My 2 cents

Chris

I still regularly use my EOS 3. On occasion I will load up the Canon A-1 as I still have a whack of FD glass.

If I know that I am going to be shooting something that I want to enlarge very big I will take along the Pentax 6X7 medium format (6X7cm). I still love seeing the quality that one can get from this.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

I used an EOS 3 a few months ago. I'd love to own it and shoot film from time to time.

Does the body really matter that much with a film camera?

Like digital, it works the same way. Yes, it matters.

I'm looking at getting a used EOS-3 pretty soon, and setting up my own dark room for b&w 35mm and medium format.

My film cameras are a Holga and a few Poloroids. I don't think I've used the Holga in over a year, but I still like the Pol's.

I could never do the darkroom deal.
It's SO much easier to just drop it off at Walgreens :P

But it's so much more fun to do it yourself :). Gives you so much more control over it.

I was going to vote both, but then I tried to remember the last time I used my EOS 3. I got my first digital camera, a D60 in July 2002. I have kept my EOS 3 and even keep some full frame lenses such as the 17-40 just in case I want to use it. I have several cartons of Provia F100 and F400 and Velvia in the freezer downstairs.

I can only recall 1 and 1/2 films that I have shot since I opened the box for my D60 and later 20D. The 1/2 film has been in the camera for about 2 years.

I might as well admit that despite my best intentions I only shoot digital. Digital is just a more user friendly format.

I still have my 35mm EOS 88 which has an ISO 200 Kodak film. Feels so like compared to my 350d. :)

I've got my 300D, and decided I wanted to expand a bit artistically, so I picked up an A-1. I haven't shot much with it, but I sure am collecting a bunch of stuff. I liked the feel of the A-1 and 50mm f1.8 so much that I dropped some money on a broken F-1 figuring that I could get it fixed, or just have something nice to sit on the shelf. Bad idea... It came in the original box, and was so nice that since then I have bought a FD zoom (w/original box) and the FD 50mm Macro and Lifesize Converter.

I have an older Rebel (35mm) and 28-90 I'm kinda hoping to get rid of. I bought the camera body for the lens that was on it. It's nothing exciting, but it is EF mount. I also have an EOS 1000 QD that I picked up while I was stationed in Korea. It has some issues, but I wouldn't hesitate to let it go for a reasonable price either.

I think that if I personally were to go to an EF mount 35mm, I would get a 1 series. They are quite nice.

About 6 months ago I picked up a real nice Bronica 6x45 system on e-bay for not much more than a 7n would go for. I haven't shot any B&W for years (at least 20) and also picked up some darkroom stuff for about 1/10th the price it would have cost me 2 years ago. I can now develop B&W at home and get the 'good' frames scanned. Get the best of both worlds. Not to mention it's awfully difficult to find a place to process TMAX now that digital has taken over.
