OK, that rules out 24-70 on my list... so now it's down to the 24-105 or the 17-50. Thanks Ronald. ;)

no he's not on his eighth copy because he hates it.. he's bought it eight times because he LIKES it... really. honestly. he's not trying to find a 'good' one..

Oh good heavens yes....Ronald is the biggest proponent of the 24-70 on the planet...I think he'd adopt it if at all possible...;)

Gah, I had a hard time finding them. Paypal wouldn't go back far enough. If you found 8 just in the sale forums, then it's even more than that. As I said, I've bought two new from B&H.

Don't be silly. It's an absolutely great lens. I'm so sure of it, that it's that very reason that I don't mind giving it up to try another lens. It's because of the 24-70 that I've been able to try almost every L lens I can think of. It's just plain great on its own. It's noticeably better with flash or studio lights.

That 24-70 is going to be absolutely wonderful on my 5D. I'm already counting the minutes. B&H hasn't confirmed shipping yet. So, I am sad to say, maybe Monday. Oh well. My 20D with grip at the wedding, I guess. Still, nice set up. I'm happy. I also need to finish my rolls of film. Bust out the EOS 3 for a little 3 - 36 roll of 400 speed.

Ronald, so what do you do with your 9 24-70/2.8L lenses? Use them as legs for your livingroom table? I'm hoping to find a *good* version of it, as I've read too many complaints about it on 1.6x crop bodies and I can't afford a 5D yet, as I want good glass first.... I know it sounds odd, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Ronald always uses them like money. He buys them cheap, or at a lower price and sells them when he needs to buy something else. It's as good as cash because they never lose their value.

I'm getting a 24mm Tilt/Shift for Solstice :)

(BTW, I love my 24-70 and would never, ever sell it.)

I love my 24-70 as well, but Ronald has always been less attached to his gear and more into getting something he thinks is useful to him. I think that's really brave. I never sell anything, even stuff I don't use.

Well maybe Ronald could find *me* the perfect 24-70 that's tac sharp. As I'll be on the same continent it might be an easy way to ship it to Ontario, Canada from NY, USA?

Ask Woolburr to sell you his. It was the first one I owned, and the one I've wanted back. Also, Doc Klepper, ed rader, and a few others have superb copies. Don't know who's selling, though.

Well, your christmas gift to me is to find someone who's willing to sell. :D

I'll be in Canada (Port Colborne, Ont, near Lake Erie - and across of Buffalo, so I can cross the border if need be) from December 15th trough January 5th.
