Shipping over the border can be delayed quite a bit because of Customs..you couldn't schedule it to be delivered during that period..I'd never trust it.

That 24-70 is going to be absolutely wonderful on my 5D. I'm already counting the minutes. B&H hasn't confirmed shipping yet. So, I am sad to say, maybe Monday. Oh well. My 20D with grip at the wedding, I guess. Still, nice set up. I'm happy. I also need to finish my rolls of film. Bust out the EOS 3 for a little 3 - 36 roll of 400 speed.

Yes - no question that if you don't need a tele that 24-70's the finest lens out there.

My 24-105 shipped, but some mindwipe decided it had to be signed for, so no joy today. It's not coming because I'm unhappy with the 24-70, but because the 70-200 IS doesn't focus close enough.

Done. ;-)a

I thought so.

Cool :D

I sold a Bigma and bought a used 300/4. While it didn't quite make up the price difference, it did offset the majority of the purchase price and I topped up the rest ('rent' if you will). It definitely lessens the pain on the wallet while letting me try two different lenses and keep one.

My wife will be getting an overlocker (something to do with sewing :) ) that she has really been wanting - and I will be replacing my Sigma 24-70 with a Canon one.

That overlocker or surger is for locking seams in clothes and very useful. I made a lot of clothes and napkins and tableclothes, etc. with mine. Now it sits in the bedroom untouched, but available at a moment's notice.

I love my Canon 24-70L. It's a great lens. You'll love yours.

Thank you, little impish elf :)

Yes, she is excited - I have bought it already and hope to pick it up on Saturday - she has several projects waiting for it and we have converted a room into a sewing room for her so she is feeling special at the moment.

I am looking forward to the Canon - the Sigma one, unfortunately, broke back in April so that range has been sorta missing in my bag since then.

Sewing room? That sounds wonderful. I have about 10 projects, some from 1988, to finish. It's sad, but true. I have 25 yards of curtain fabric to cut out and sew at holiday time. I'm redecorating. It's saving money in the long run to have such great skills, but in the meantime, my husband wonders why we have all this junk!

Something I've recently realized that xmas gifts should not be "early" even if they are to yourself. Otherwise they are not xmas gifts - just another purchase.

I am single and will be buying and wrapping my presents and open them on xmas morning. I will be getting a Huey monitor calibrator, not sure what else. Waiting until December 25th gives you discipline. :)

Well, mine's here:
LAUREL,
MD, US 11/09/2006 11:28 A.M. DELIVERY
And just in time to be my Armistice Day present if that's the alternative to wrapping it up for the next 6 weeks! If only I didn't have so much editing to do!

Ron, B&H didn't process my order until this afternoon. Can't cry about it. Getting it next week. Still. I'm excited. Wondered why they didn't ship it. My order had a problem. I think it's because I got it so cheap. :)
