I hoping to get a few things. I want a 135L, a 430EX, and a Wacom tablet. Yup..mostly likely, I'll get them. I love my mother.

Hello ya all.

Now, I'd like to start a different thread here....

What lenses you'd like for Christmas... I guess Belmondo will say nothing, as he owns so much :p but I'd like to see something from you.

Here:

135 f/2L
400 f/2.8L IS
600 f/4L IS

Three marvelous primes. :)

Wrong...Belmondo is waiting everso impatiently for the new 50...I am too!!! "All I want for Christmas is the new 50...."

Well, I hope I can say this impartially (since you are buying my 30D camera), you'll love the camera and I think you'll be quite happy with your early Christmas present...and when you do buy the 100-400L, well...it's an awesome combo. It was a permanent resident on the 30. (Really, I never switched it out because of the extra reach...and speed...I just found those two to be a fantastic combo.)

Well lets see, a new tripod with ball head and the new Epson P-3000. That oughta do it for me this xmas. My (soon to be) wife wants the Canon 100mm f2.8 Macro AND the 24-70 2.8L. I dunno about both of those, but maybe one...I guess we will see. ;-)a

Just got the 430EX and 5D, Ronald. The 430 is nothing like the 580, but I assume it will be great when I use them both at the same time. OOOOooooo.

Also, the 5D is beautiful. It's exactly what I was hoping for. And I won't have a chance to use it until the weekend. I used my 20D this weekend, a lot and it worked great. I may just have to keep them both. Oh well.

For Christmas, I changed my mind, I think I need another bag. :o Time to go to the thread about bags.

That's the only reason I want the 430. The 5D really is a thing of beauty. In my opinion, it makes even the close relative, the 20D, feel "toy"-ish. It has a bigger, more solid feel, and the grip is bigger, too. Did you peek through the viewfinder? ^_^

Oh, yeah! It's a thing of beauty and I feel totally spoiled. My Christmas came a lot earlier and I have now, IMO, everything I need to make my photography grow. I know I'll probably try for the 70-200 IS next year, but for right now, I couldn't be happier with the gear. My 24-70 works beautifully and I think I will hold off on getting the 5D grip. I think the set-up with grip is about as heavy as the 1DMKIIN.

Nah, it's still at least a half pound shy. The 1-series battery is the killer. It makes up for probably a literal 1/3 or more of the weight of the body.

that grip is a rock...Ron's right that the battery combo is lighter than the MKIIN battery but that grip is VERY heavy.....I really couldn't tell much of a diff. btw. the weight of each...and with the 24-70, you're talking a neck wrench for sure!

See perma, I don't use a neckstrap....ever. I just keep my Kata at my side, and simply slide the thing in there when I'm not using it. It's as easy as holstering a gun...literally. If I simply can't wear a holster bag, I use a handstrap instead. I don't notice any strain. I've carried a 1DMkII and 24-70L all day like that, and couldn't be more comfortable. The part where you get your exercise is pulling it up to your eye. It's like curling a dumbell!

LOL. I wouldn't try that if I were you. My son was using my weights the other day and almost knocked himself out. :)

Ron have I ever told you how many times I fall down? And how many pieces of equipment I ruin when I do so? Hand straps are not an option!
