not sure where to post this one, so i'll put it here... ;) this is a photo of a soap bubble i captured last summer. i was walking through a park, and there was a young girl with her boyfriend about 20 yards ahead of me. she was blowing bubbles with one of those little plastic wands. most of them drifted off, or burst in mid-air, but this one landed on a stalk of grass and perched there. just for the heck of it, i thought i'd see if i could get a shot, so i hurried up and managed three frames before it burst.

taken with a 30D and Sigma EX 80-400 lens, handheld at 350mm, 1/250 @ f5.6.

Surreal - this is an excellent photo. The composition could hardly be simpler. Excellent work, I'm really liking this one.

thanks, everyone, for the kind comments. this photo actually appeared in the "Your Shots" feature in the October issue of National Geographic magazine! i was pretty amazed, considering i took the shot on a whim, and sent it in only because one of my co-workers insisted... i never thought it would have a chance, considering they get between 3000 and 5000 submissions every month, but apparently it struck a nerve, because they called me 3 days later to tell me it had been selected! :)
