I'm looking at a (non-USM) micro motor focusing model...I know that there is a difference using AF, but what about using it strictly as a manual focus lens...stopped down a bit for sharpening...

Manual focus without a screen designed for MF assist will be problematical at best. If you get a screen with MF aid it'll be somewhat easier but the DR family are generally considered to have small, dark finders which will make that difficult even then. Jon

Nov 12, 2006 09:07 | #3 I have a d30 and will get a 10d, but I can see what you mean about having the right screen for MF...on my Nikons I replaced all the split screens for the basic matte center circle so the D screens aren't so foreign to me.
