im happy with my over 70mm options at the moment but from time to time it would be nice to get that bit closer maybe still maintain some zoom ability to help with cropping aswell? any suggestions at the moment im using the
24-105ISL

anything more suitable ?

would like to steer clear of a prime really to maintain some flexability but often being in wooded areas in dim light would be nice to not have to resort to flash

I also shoot motorsports and I use the following three regualary...a 10-22, 17-40L 24-70L and 28-135IS and love them all. My only wish is for the 10-22 and 28-135IS could be an "L" OK actually I really wish for a 10-135L IS 2.8 and the other three lenses would be retired!

If you didn't already have the 24-105, I'd suggest that as really the only zoom with any potential value to a motorsport photographer. Maybe a 24-70L....there are still lots of those floating around.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

I also shoot Motorsport and have had some awesome results with both the 17-40L and the 24-70L. Obviously both lenses would need to be good copies as with anything I guess. Results will very much depend on how close you really can get to the action, and/or what it is you are trying to achieve.

Someimes when shooting bikes (usually stadium events) you get as close as you are game like within a few feet at tight corners:) under the downside of big air jumps :D and stuff, that can make for excellent shots with wide angle lenses on full frame bodies.

Bodies - 1Ds, 1Ds II, 1D IIn
Lenses - ALL 'L's' - 17-40 f4, 24-70 f2.8, 70-200 f2.8, 2x200 f1.8, 400 f2.8, 600 f4, 1.4 TC

Yeah ive heard its a great lens but also heard its a bit hit and miss with what kind of a copy you get of it also im very sad to say im getting very addicted to IS these days thats what swung the 24-105 for me and so far quite happy with it just very keen to know what others find the best option as i dont want to make it any harder than it allready is really;)
