In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

John McCrae (1872 - 1918 )

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them

Thank you Marie.

These are simply superb, and quite a touching tribute to our fallen soldiers.

In Flanders Fields

I thought of that when I saw the title. Very nice work, Marie! I'm not too sure about the surreal look of the last one, but I'm sure that was what you were going for, & you succeded! ;)

thank you all so much
:)

I was in two minds whether to post this and then I hit the top button by mistake when trying to fix the 'title' as I was not quite finished when suddenly the lot shot off and onto the forum so I just 'let it go'

I was feeling very much like everyone about these things
and as you mention Frank ( and Sandy), thanks, the reason for the dark sky in the last shot was a little something of trying to express how the sky was darkened with the sadness of what happened in the 'fields of killing '
thank's all for your thoughts and comments
and special thoughts go out to all who are suffering at war
and their families

take care

regards, Marie

A lovely post Marie and lovely photos - nice gesture. Especially like #1

Did you use the photoshop to achieve the results?

That first shot is a cracker Marie, and very nicely processed. It is also very emotive after reading the poem too.
