I went to my cousins conformation yesterday and decided to try out my new lens (50 f/1.4) I think its great! the pix are crystal and the colors are great. here are some....c+c please. Also notice the pic #3.....why does the woman (my mom) look out of focus? i tried a few things but all the pictures seem to have her out of focus a bit. Thanx again

Nice pics. I believe you "OOF" issue is due to shallow Depth Of Focus (which can be pretty shallow with a 1.4 lens), which is the same reason that your cousins earrings are OOF in your first shot.

Great photos! To answer your question about photo #3, I need to ask, what aperture were you shooting at? At f/1.4, the depth of focus is very thin. So, if the camera focused in on your cousin, then anybody standing closer or further from the camera at the time will be out of focus... and how out of focus will depend on the distance from the "in-focus" plane. At f/8, the depth of focus is much wider, thus more of the photo will be in focus. Hope this helps.

the color is great, you may try stoping the lens down one or two stops the take care of OOF
