For the first time since I got my 30D, I took some shots indoors using my 430ex with and omnibouce. My shots turned out underexposed. I accidentally used ISO 400, I normally shoot on 100 with a flash.
I decided to test this a little and I determined, that with the omnibounce, my shots just don't look that good. They appear grainy and the coloring is odd when I used ISO 400. This was not a problem with the 350D.
They seemd fine with the omnibouce removed.

Anyone else using the same combination notice this?

another question:
Should the ISO be on anythign but 100 when shooting flash?

Here is a good unprocessed example:

I don't use this setup but I do use a plain white paper card to bounce. I noticed after I downloaded the image and changed the levels you were also using a slow shutter. If you were using the ettl feature on the flash you can try switching to manual settings and bumping the flash up a little to compensate for the indirect flash. I ran some PP on the image it should come out fine other than the slight motion blur from the slow shutter speed.

Just another shutterbug.

Quite often you will want to boost the ISO even while using a flash, if you are trying to balance ambient light with the light from the flash and don't want your shutter speed to be too slow.

I have the same setup as you. What "mode" were you shooting in? "P" mode and "auto" use 1/60 sec. I have recently been shooting flash using AV mode. I turned on the Cfn that forces 1/250 second and usually use around F8 with my 17-55mm. What lens are you using for indoor flash shots?

Try ISO200, shoot manual, something like f4, 1/100. Also if using omnibounce always compensate with EC (exposure compensation)

To OP: When shooting in AV you didn't mention if you turned on the 1/250 option in the Custom Functions?

I also use Manual sometimes as quoted here. I use 1/125 shutter and F6.3 as I found it best for my lens. Set it at 1/125 and do some testing by changing the F stop from F4 to about F8 under your normal shooting light. Review the pics and see what does the trick for your lens.. Gerry
