"GET THE LED OUT" plays Led Zeppelin @ Penn's Peak, Jim Thorpe, PA 11.11.06
"Get The Led Out" plays to a standing room only crowd this Saturday nite... Everyone, from pint sized kids to parents and older couples rock to the music of GTLO...These pics come from deep in the center of the pit...tell me what you like and what could be improved on...post processing and any other suggestions are greatly appreciated...

Pretty nice, John, although they may be cropped a bit tight and they are mostly the same look ... no wide angle and no really close ups. #7 is a bit soft.

The tight cropping on some of these, is actually the original photo edge, as seen through the camera...I eventually ended up right at the very front center of the stage...In several of the closeups, I couldn't fit the performers guitars into the view finder...

#7 is actually a very narrow depth of field shot...the lens was nearly wide open at f/2.2...in the original, both eyes are spot on focus...however, the composition of the picture has the good side:..of him playing on the far end of the guitar neck and the lesser side: lots of shirt, in the composition...I chose this picture, purely on the sharp focus of the eyes, and the play on the neck...

The house was full...standing room only...getting out of the pit to get a more distant shot was on my mind through out the show...however, finding my way back to the front of the pit would not have been possible...next year I'll consider other strategies...a second camera with a wider lens, would be ideal...

Great photo's of one of my favorite bands! I was at this concert, which was still one of the best shows at Penns Peak for 2006. Saw your photo's of The New Cars and Skid Row which by the way were remarkable and actually made them look better than they really looked in person. Now those shows were boring, but your photos brought them to life!

#1 is a pretty great shot...#3 i have problems w/ the bokeh'ed-out dude in the foreground. #6 shows you got his attention, and captured the moment.

pretty nice set john.

Regarding "The New Cars" and Skid Row":
Many thanks to you Jude Kelly, for your astute listening ears and keen observations...The audience gave the bands their chance, with consistent standing ovations... the feed back should have gotten through to the bands...Instead, some of both of the bands' enthusiasm was either canned or lacking...In other words, yes I too, perceived it that way...

Regarding "Get The Led Out"... the patron and audience response is quite impressive...They have performed at Penn's Peak a few other times...this was my first time, seeing them...Now get this, you were there...I live just a stop sign away from the venue, and arrived two and a half hours before the start of the show...the line was the longest I have ever seen...and so early into the late afternoon...When I finally got to the front door, I upgraded my ticket to the pit, by buying the very last pit ticket available...and was able to get close enough for these photos, without a zoom lens...

Thanks narlus,
The Keyboard player in photo #3, was way off to stage left, and considerably far to capture...I kept shooting him in bursts, several different times, hoping for a sharp enough photo to enlarge...What you see above is already a substantially trimmed picture...However, I tried to trim out the photo, to only focus on him...It's a little bit grainy and loud, but here goes...let's see how it looks by way of photobucket...

Now, regarding the Lead Singer in #1 and #6...I was directly in front of him...He stood 5 feet above me, and an additional 4 feet from the very front edge of the stage...It was a lot easier to pick out a good photo in this situation...At certain times, the lighting was great...although I couldn't tell the difference while shooting the pictures, the end result shows that the occasionally different lighting was quite conducive to photos...wish it was like that all the time...
