Hi all, I'm just a beginner so I hope you can bear with my limited knowledge. Recently I've purchased the 30D with its kit lens 17-85mm f4-5.6 IS USM and now looking for addition lens. As I would like to use my camera for landscape purpose (when travelling) I'm thinking of the Canon 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM or Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC HSM. Any comments on those 2?
In addition, I'm looking for a better lens to shoot my baby, general portraits, general travelling or perhaps in weddings. After reading some reviews, I'm considering the following:
- Canon EF 24-105mm f4.0L IS USM
- Canon EF 24-70mm f2.8L USM
- Canon EF-S 17- 55mm f2.8 IS USM
The problem I'm having is I don't want to waste money on a lens that pretty much covers the same range or purpose of my 17/85, any advice for me? Am I in the wrong direction that I should be considering something like Canon EF 17- 40mm f/4.0L or even prime instead?
For tele, I'm also thinking of getting the Canon EF 70-200mm f/4.0 L IS USM as it's reasonably priced and f4 sounds fine for me in outdoor situation. My purpose would still be shooting my baby and prehaps some weddings, any advice on this?
Many thanks guys! Alco
