18-55 kit lens on 1D

quick question
whilst I know the kit lens is an ef-s
will it work on my 1D at all

I think I read somewhere that because the lens protrudes slightly at the back being and ef-s it would hit the mirror as it flips up
is this true
or is it that it will just not work ect ect

its the only wide lens I have at the moment till I get a 17-40 and just want to know

Interesting link that - but strange to imagine the kit lens sitting on a 1 series body...

I changed the mount on my kit lens to go on my film camera, and it hit the mirror at 18mm. don't try it with a 1 series body.
