No method of data storage, including paper and ink, is 100% safe and secure. Wise people learn to understand risk, then manage it.

I know about backups. My wife knows about backups. Time and timing is the issue - especially when the house is busy.

Well, your entire financial life is on computers once it leaves the paper in your house, so get used to it.

There isnt any reason in the world why you cant trust a computer enough to keep financial stuff on it. If you are worried about viruses, keep a small computer disconnected from the net just for your financials. You should NEVER had to re-enter info if you are backing it up right and you should DOUBLY NEVER have to do it a second time.

Backups are easy these days and there is software that will do it automatically for you on a regular basis or when you tell it to so the old "dont have time" excuse really doesnt cut it any longer.

Do what works for you, but saying a computer isnt reliable enough is just silly.

I agree, I feel computers backed-up as needed are a safer way of accounting then paper.

With paper you only have the orignal that fire can destroy, theif could steal, etc. Whattya gonna do, copy 1,396 papers?
