I'd suggest replacing it with the Sigma 17-70mm

Good zoom range, close focus and very good image quality (for the price)

i was in your same position.... i ordered a XT with the same 28-70 siggy thinking i made a mistake instead of the kit lens. The sigma is ok for a cheap lens but it outperforms the kit lens quite a bit. however its not as wide as the kit on the low end. Ill just tell you that im now kicking myself now for not spending the 120 i spent on the siggy towards a 17-40L. Bottom line is you get what you pay for.

the 17-70 is a good choice.

Others are.
Canon EF 28-135 IS
Sigma 24-70 f2.8 DG EX

Both can be had for under $500 and both are very good lenses.

I'm very happy with my 24-70. I got it for under $350 as well.

Are you asking if it is a DC or DG? There is not a ec.

I have not used Sigma4less, but many say it has the best prices for Sigmas. I use B&H

Go for the 17-70 Sigma. I researched lenses for a month before deciding. It may be the best bang for the buck of any (non-kit) lens. It's very sharp!
Get the 50mm 1.8 or 1.4 for indoor low light, sharp images.

6D, 60D, Various L and non-L Lenses and more gear than I have time to use. ;)
