Had a disaster on Sat. Was shooting at the FA Cup game pictured.

Wiring some images in when at the start of the second half, a clearance came out of nowhere, took the laptop out of my hands and smashed it into the advertising board. Smashed to pieces. Gutted. Mananged to get my data back however. Suppose it goes with the territory - rough with the smooth eh?

The home team lost 1 - 4 and was about as one sided as a game can get. Snooze worthy to be honest.

Excuse the pun but I took my eye off the ball after that and did not really nail anything decent - even ballsed upo my foucsing as far too distracted/upset/angry!

sorry to hear of your mishap pete, a great set of pics though. The opening shot being my favourite as its nice and sharp and excellent facial expressions. Steve

Are you insured against that kind of mishap Pete?

And BTW - did you see David Bryant?

bummer about the laptop. i've seen some photographers at basketball games have the ball blocked directly into their lens, breaking lens hoods and lenses. Good shots though. nice work.

Thanks all.

The laptop was not insured as I had only picked it up the week before or so and not yet added to my policy. Thankfully I managed to 'rebuild' it and after much fiddling it fired up though I am sure that the life span is shortened. Still, in use solely for live and jobs on the go. All my main PP is done back at the office.

As for the SIgma 300mm 2.8, I cannot recommend it enough. I needed a quick fix solution and I could not stretch to the Canon at the moment having just bought a second Mark II body. Howver, the Sigma as super fast, sharp, the colours are lovely and a bargain at £1.5K.

Thanks all.

Pete.
