Hard to believe last weekend was the quarterfinals, and in a week in a half football will be over.

I had planned to shoot both Friday night and Saturday, but mother nature had other plans with a severe thunderstorm Friday night that canceled the game. I'll admit I had some mixed feelings about the game being cancelled, I really didn't want to be outside in the cold pouring rain shooting; but the field was a swamp with some great puddles which would have made for some exciting photography I think!

As it was on Saturday; the ground was at saturation, but the standing puddles were gone, which still made for a nice messy game.

The final stretch to stop him from getting in the end zone.

You can't touch this!

Not as much potential as the night before, but I think I managed to get a couple of good ones. I'm also pretty sure that the mom's of the team in white are working overtime to get those uniforms clean!

Thanks for looking!

Great shots. So this is basically American Football without them all being wimps and playing on fake grass? :p

Got to love those games - they are absolutely my favorite to shoot. You did well.

Yeah, most schools don't have the artificial turf. Our local pro team plays on grass as well! Go Bears!

Oh yeah, I was excited to shoot this game! I was hoping for a good mud tussle between these two teams.

Thanks for looking!

Nice shots Kevin. My game Friday night was played after a two hour delay, you talk about a messy field. This field was in great shaped compared to Oak Forest's field Friday night. During the delay because of the thunderstorms they had everybody in the school and some yahoo pulled the fire alarm and everybody had to evacuate.

What game did you cover and what did you use to get these great shots? I was at the 8A quarterfinal between York and Fremd and the night shots are giving me fits - I'm not used to it yet.

Yeah I heard about that! Some people! If they would have played Friday night it would have been a lot worse. Fully half of the field was under a standing puddle that night, the grounds crew must have worked overtime just to get it as playable as it was, and I don't know how they did it.

This was LWE @ Bolingbrook. All were taken with the 30D 70-200 L. ISO ranged from 800-1600 throught the overcast afternoon, Even though it started at 3 they turned the lights on before half time. It was pretty dark that day, and the uniforms became darker as the game went on! ;-)a

Very nice shots! I love #2, especially the way you caught him at full stretch. Makes you appreciate his effort, and if you hadn't told us, I would have still been wondering if he got the guy or not. :)
