Admire your spirit and bravery. Good luck. Hope to talk about some gear and wedding shooting strategies after you...while you recover. Hehe.

Great suggestion Jev. I'm usually afraid to plug the 24-70/2.8 when people are so enamoured with the 24-105/4.0 IS so that's very brave of you. Curious to know why you chose the 24-70 too, just like I did?

I tried both in store, as i have 70-200 IS where i believe IS is very usable, i chose speed of 24-70 2.8 vs 4, plus for my type of shooting IS does not do too much at this focal length

But hey everyone is different, just suggesting to try it

Same here...Got the 70-200 2.8 IS already...the 24-70 2.8 has the speed and is the work horse of low light concert venue and theater photography...it will be my next acquisition, unless I get a prime 24mm 1.4L lens first...

So CyberPet...you up and at it yet? Not to rush, mind ya...this discussion is on record, and isn't going anywhere, it will be waiting for you to continue, when you feel like it...

Hope you get out soon, and thanks for the mini review/endorsement of these two fine lenses, your spot on about the sharpness

I'm up and about and back home!!! :D

jev and others, I tried the 24-105/4 tuesday in less light I'll ever shoot weddings in and it was performing way over my expectations! The worry I had was the f/4, but now I'm convinced it won't be a problem. So it's more a discussion now about wether I should get the 17-55 or the 24-105. But I think either of them will be excellent. :D
