I think a 300D is good for 50,000+. Not that it couldn't last for more, or somehow fail before hand, but I hear 50k tossed around a lot.

I know someone who uses his for club photography, the counter has maxed out twice. Which I think means he's done over 200,000.

More to the point, if the shutter fails after xx,xxx number of uses, can it be fixed or is it time for a new camera body?

The counter maxes out at 10,000 clicks not 100,000.
Mine got to 10,000 and the next photos have gone back to single figures.
30,000 actuations is what's been bandied around but remember that's only a guide and the shutters are cheap enough to replace.

Canon 5D2 20D & 300D 50mm f1.8 mk 2, 24-105 f4 IS L

But your folder numbers have continued to rise. You're now shooting folders in the 200CANON range.

Average 300D shutter life's reported around 25K; replacement cost's a reasonable $200 (when compared to replacing the whole camera).

About 2600, give or take firing the shutter with no card, and assuming you didn't reset it by putting in a card from another camera or doing a reset of some kind.

Sorry, yes. 126-2654 would be 2600; first 3 are the folder number.

Thanks for reply!. So given the average shutterlife of 25K I can expect the shutter to collaps ?

That's an average. Just keep shooting uyntil it fails. Couple of possible failure modes are that the bottom of your pictures will be black (secondary mirror fails) or you'll see white/overexposed arcs running from top to bottom of your photos.
