Not that it couldn't last for more, or somehow fail before hand, but I hear 50k tossed around a lot. 20D w/ Battery Grip + 300D w/ Battery Grip + Sigma EF-500 DG Super + Sigma 30mm 1.4 + Canon 50mm 1.8 + Sigma 24-70mm 2.8 + Tamron 75-300mm + Sigma 10-20mm + Canon 70-200 2.8L + Sigma 50-500mm DG + Manfrotto 679B Monopod + Manfrotto 3011BN Tripod + Manfrotto 484RC2 ballhead + Dynatran ATH918S Pistolgrip Ballhead

Mine got to 10,000 and the next photos have gone back to single figures. 30,000 actuations is what's been bandied around but remember that's only a guide and the shutters are cheap enough to replace. But your folder numbers have continued to rise. You're now shooting folders in the 200CANON range. Jon

Couple of possible failure modes are that the bottom of your pictures will be black (secondary mirror fails) or you'll see white/overexposed arcs running from top to bottom of your photos. Jon
