They did seem soft at first to me, but i don't trust my eyes anymore. Like you said a little PP and it's all gravy baby.

Hahahahahaha.... I have old eyes (53) so right after my post, I got my reading glasses on and looked again. I still say slightly soft, but it is amazing when I put on my glasses how much clearer this Forum is on my laptop!

On a side note, I need a monitor for my laptop, a Sony Vaio. Can any monitor be hooked up, or are there special monitors for laptops? Maybe I need my own thread for that after doing a search.

Peace.

I think it all depends on how he is viewing the pictures. If I'm in the lounge during the day I won't even bother to look at a picture as I know it will suck due to the ambient light throwing everything off by a mile.
If however I look at the same pic in the evening with my standard lighting under which I calibrated my monitor things look nice and contrasty and sharp as a tack.
So maybe it's his viewing setup that needs looking at and not the lens?

Ha, you beat me to it! I was going to offer up my drainpipe. Oh, wait a minute. I already bought a 70-200 2.8L IS to replace it.

Hah, a BNIB drainpipe could probably fetch a BNIB 70-200 f2.8 IS + money, but who knows.

About the original images, I noticed that the file sizes were 72 pixels/inch. Could that have something to do with your poor resolution problem? What camera mode (image quality setting) were they shot in?

I believe by default they are 72dpi.
They should be large/fine jpeg.
I think he's decided he's gonna sell it. There's a chance it might show up on this forum to sell...
