"Wet" cleaning sensor

OK-I tried the blowing out on the sensor per directions in my Canon book. I have spots on pictures in the sky-thought it was either my new 400 lens or new 1.4 extender, but tried both lenses separately and together and still have spots. Must be the Camera. (20D) So how do you Wet Clean the sensor? If this is somethng I can do I don't want to take it to Wolf Camera they overcharge for everything!

google eclipse solution. you use that with a sensor swab and you're good to go

Hey that's a cool site and I ordered a kit to get started. But enjoyed reading the whole thing and looking at his gallery. I even sent the site to someone else. I like that guy! Thanks for the link.

You can also go to CVS and look in the womens eye makeup section for the small -White- Nylon Bristle Brushes. They are tapered and about 5/16 in. wide x 3 in.long. They are un coated and super clean. They come in a zip lok style bag, for about $2.25 Use canned air to charge them before using them, gently brush the sensor, along with using a blower. They use the same White Nylon as the $ 30.00 white nylon brushes that are sold as sensor cleaning brushes. You can also find good quality artist brushes made of the same tapered white nylon " with no sizing on them " in various widths that are perfectly safe for sensor cleaning. Just be careful not to saturate the top of the sensor with cleaning solution to the point where the liquid may migrate under the filter on the sensor. A little goes a long way.

Sloany, I am not sure if I understood correctly, do you suggest using nylon BRUSH for WET sensor cleaning?

You can actuall y use them both ways. But use it dry at first. That will remove any dust. If you have a glob of something sticking to the filter that covers most all sensors, you can try moistinig the brush and try to dislodge the crud. DO NOT FLOOD THE FILTER OVER THE SENSOR WITH THE CLEANER OR ANYOTHER SOLUTION !!!!!!!!! This what the manufactures are mostly concerned about when using the wet method of cleaning. PEOPLE HAVE FLOODED THE TOP OF THE SENSOR AND LIQUID GETS BETWEEN THE FILTER AND THE TOP OF THE SENSOR. Just take your time and you will do fine. Make sure you have a fresh battery in the camera to keep the mirror locked up while you doing the cleaning. It may take a few tries, be patient.

Eclipse Solution and Pec pads. Very simple process, just be very careful and you will have no problems.
