Shoot tethered. You'll get a feel for its quality even though you can't go far at the moment. Or pop out to some computer/electronics/r​adio shop and buy some small CF card till your big cards get here...

Great opportunity to get familiar with EOS Remote Capture at this point in time. Hook up the camera to your USB port and you can fire a few frames with your mouse :)
