If you like both, I'd say get both. They are excellent lenses.
That really would be overkill.
Good idea though.

The difference in FL is enough for creativity purposes. I still plan on getting a 50 1.4 to add to the prime set. But that doesn't mean it'll get used more than the 30mm. If I could make your mind up for you, I'd say keep the 30mm. But it's up to you how much that 20mm makes a difference. It's huge to me...Hell keep both! DOOOO IIIIIIT! It's not overkill, they're both fast and sharp. Your zooms might overlap, but they're not fast. Mike

I hear what you are saying but the 50mm has already gone back to pay for the 30mm. i really cant afford both Dave.

I love my 50/1.4, but it sounds like it's not the lens for you. True but as my style of shooting is to zoom in i think the 50mm will be more in keeping with my style. of course i will miss a few shots but I must admit im more of a snapper, so i tend to make the best of things. i nearly always crop my shots so i might get a way with 50mm for most shots and need to crop less. Dave.

The sigma is cool, but I dont like it b/c its for 1.6 crop only. Im looking into a 35L, but the price drives me away from it. Isn't the 30mm idea that you can get the 50mm "standard view" feel on the crop bodies though? I feel i have to keep checking the 30mm shots as i take them where as with the 50mm (and my old 50mm f/1.8II) i had more confidence in them. Dave.
