Hi all,

Just wanted to ask the 5D owners that bought Sterlingtek batteries if they have had to make any modifications to the batteries themselves? I ordered two of them, and tried one last night. I put it in, and it got stuck in the battery compartment... ...and luckily, I was able to get it out of the compartment.

So, for those with a 5D, and sterlingtek batteries...any ideas what can be done about this issue? Will I have to send the batteries back? request new ones? file them, such as the 30D owners? Any ideas?

See this thread which I just stickied. There's a slightly out-of-kilter batch that just came in.

I would think the same minor file job that Jon stickied recently will work for your 5D also, as I believe Canon's battery compartment specs and manufacturing tolerances are more consistent than the vendor that provided Sterlingtek's 'out-of-kilter batch'.

Thanks, I figured that thread would apply here, as well, when I read it before. Now, just to try it, and hope that it works.

I ordered a couple of them for my 20D last week and they were they same way. I called Sterlingtek and they said there is an issue with the Canon D series cameras. They are replacing them and even refunding my return shipping costs. The batteries did fit in my G2.

Ouch! This must be playing havoc with their business. I would guess by their popularity that they sell a boatload of batteries for Canon D type cameras.

Yes, but it shows the type of service they offer....and why they get so many orders...and repeat orders....:)

Just wanted to update...I received new 2K mAh batteries from Sterlingtek. Fit is fine, and turn around time was good. Still using the first battery...from Canon, even though the ST's are charged, and ready to go. Either I need to use the camera more, of the batteries last a while...hehe.

I'd also like to point out that my 3 Sterlingtek's fit perfect. (Ordered Dec 15th)

I believe it was a very short period where they sent deffective ones out.
