20D Size

I just have to say that the pictures of the 20D do not do it justice when you put it next to a 350D, it's nearly twice the size of it. I picked one up 2nd hand and I am really pleased with it.

The same thing happened to me when I picked up the 30D. I had been trying out the XTi and liked it a lot at first. Then I got to hold and shoot with a 30D for a bit and it was a much better feel in my hand. I really didn't feel as others do that the XTi felt cheap or plasticy. I liked it but just felt that it did not have as good a feel as the 30D and I wanted something that felt good because I do tend to shoot a lot when I go out on trips and dayhikes, so the camera is in my hand a good deal of the time.

I didnt realise how much bigger it is than the 350d, I stuck my Sigma 70-200 on and it weighs a ton. Back on the monopod then.... . I bought it to replace the 350D, thats the backup now. wasnt too bad cost €670 2nd hand

I have to agree with the feel of the 20D/30D compared to the 350D/400D. I was in Best Buy the other day messing around in the camera section (dreaming)! I messed about with the 400D then I picked up the 30D to mess about with it! WOW! Fun camera to work with from a feel standpoint!

After experiencing that situation and knowing my finances wouldn't allow for me to get the 30D anytime soon, plus I want to see what comes out in the spring as far as a replacement/upgrade to the 30D, I decided to purchase the battery grip for my 350D. It doesn't quit have the same feel as the 30D but I sure can tell you it has a much more robust and "fuller" feel now! I whole heartedly recommend to anyone wanting the bigger camera feel for their 350D/400D to look into purchasing the battery grip.

If nothing else...it looks like a WAY more professional camera now!

Don't pick up a 1D MkII N, I did and nothing other will ever feel right again (I have a 20D).

I told myself I would wait at least a year before I picked up a camera that was a higher model up from my 30D...lolol

I would agree with the last statement...

what i love about the 30d (my first canon slr) is that these guys thought of everything! The grip is perfect, with a slight lip to it so it wont slip down your fingers. the shutter sits in a recessed cut that perfectly follows my fingers. all of the options are accessible from the top right of the camera. none of the surface structures attract dust. and the build quality is just amazing! i used to own the minolta 7d, and it was robust, but it was uneven. the canon engineers even factored in the waith of the battery in the grip to create a perfectly balanced camera.

ok ok i am rambling on about things everyone here knows. i am just uber excited about my purchase.

After getting used to the size of my 20d - I actually started to find it a bit small!

And the older 10D even has a little bit better feel to it to me....a bit larger and "beefier"....if that is a word..........

Oh yeah Beefier is a good word to describe it.
