Well, the 1DsMII has been slammed by a number of people for having too much noise at ISO 3200 and such. So, I took some test shots to see for myself, what do you all think about the noise on these. No noise reduction, just converted from Raw and to the web.

ISO 3200, F/2.0. 1/320

I think I could handle that. In a print it would barely show up, if at all. It's "weird" compared to my 30D at 3200 though.

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

The 5D gave very similar results, actually the 1DMIIN I have is the best of them all

Yeah my 30D is more random.

well its hard to tell from the WB issue, but it also looks a bit under exposed by looking at the white in the JBL. which would add more noise.

Certainly leaps and bounds better than the original 1ds

Well, the WB is dead on actually, this is what it looks like. Tungsten or 3200, I played around with other WB's and they looked awful. The orange cast this one has is from the wood behind it

Nope, the JBL logo is metal and silver. It reflects like more than white paint

The bottom line ... it blows away 3200 speed film ... so consider yourself lucky and deal with it. If it bothers you too much, I'll be happy to dispose of that camera for you. I'll even pay for the shipping to my house so I can dispose of it.

Clearly defective...send it to my lab for further analysis.;) Anyone that thinks this is bad from a noise standpoint has never shot film at 3200.

Hmm. That grain looks less... stripey... than my 20D's at 3200. Kinda more like film grain to my eyes. Can't say that it looks too bad at all...

That would certainly be true if the original 1Ds went to 3200.

I've recently posted some results that fly in the face of the older 1Ds' bad reputation.

Very similar to this thread.

people will always try to stop you doing the right thing if it is unconventional
Full frame and some primes.
