Thinking about adding a grip but when my flash is on the camera is on the verge of being too heavy to walk around with. Do you guys remove the grip to save weight OR once its on, it never comes off?

Never comes off. Only when I stop working do I think about the weight ... when I'm working the camera is weightless.

I had one on a 350D but took it off, didn't really get the benefit of it.

Pretty much never off... the weight doesn't bother me at all and unless I wanted a "stealth" camera I wouldn't take it off. I've taken it off once so far before I had a bag that was big enough to hold it and I really needed to take it somewhere in a bag.

Taking off the hand strap is too much of a pain in the butt, so the grip stays on.

I have 2x 30d's and they both have grips. I specifically only bought a hand strap for one of them, so I could take the grip off the other when I wanted to go light. I have only removed that grip one time, and I wasn't even using the camera, someone else was. I like the shutter button and the balance. I feel too awkward without it.

If I had a rebel XTi I would certainly have the grip on all the time. It's so small and so much lighter.

Thank you,

Never comes off. Can't figure out how to detach the bottom grip of the 1D. :p

The rest have no grips at all to start with, never liked 'em, never felt the need for them. I think it depends a lot on how you hold your camera, too.

I take mine off sometimes, usually when I am trying to really pack small or when I know I will be using a tri-pod. However, I love the grip and it is on the camera at least 75% of the time.

it comes off when it goes on the tripod for macro work. or when I got a lens like my 70-200 on it w/o a tripod collar.

Thats the only time it comes off.
