Nov 16, 2006 06:23 | #32 thanks for all the replies. I am only thinking about a grip to enhance the portrait orientation pictures. I find it awkward to take these pictures now and find that 90% of my shots are "normal" instead of portrait orientation. 5DMkIV

I wouldn't want to remove the grip anyhow - it offers a much better grip of the camera, especially with the hand strap installed. Skip Douglas

runninmann what the heck do I know? More info | Nov 16, 2006 06:56 | #34 When I first got the grip for my 20D, I thought it added entirely too much weight, but after just a couple of days, I barely noticed it. Once I got the hand strap, it felt even more comfortable. It has been a part of the standard outfit, ever since.

STaylor Senior Member 719 posts Joined Mar 2005 Location: Memphis, TN More info | I had a need to remove my grip from my 20D a few months ago. The removal required a hacksaw to get the job done however. I know it's happened to another member on here, but I forget who. I'll never buy another POS canon grip again. =) Couple of DSLRs, number of lenses and other stuff... plenty short on talent.

Since I upgraded to a 1D2N (which doesn't have a removable grip, heh) I might though. I plan to use the D30 with the 35mm f/2.0 as a "stealth camera" when I don't want to walk around with the monster. La Vida Leica!
