Do you ever take your grip off?

I take it off when I'm shooting with the cam on the tripod or when I want to be less noticeable or intimidating. If the person being photographed is kind of shy or not very self confident it may well be intimidated by a large camera + huge chunk of glass like 85L.

I never take it off because of weight...

5D and holy trinity of primes. Now the 90mm TS-E TS-E fly bit me. I hate these forums.

I had a need to remove my grip from my 20D a few months ago. The removal required a hacksaw to get the job done however. I know it's happened to another member on here, but I forget who. I'll never buy another POS canon grip again. =)

That's one hell of a problem! What happened? Did the screw get rusted on there or something?

Just out of habit, I will slightly loosen and then tighten the screw on the grip once or twice while I'm out shooting, just to make sure it is on tight. You just gave me one more reason to do this. I'm sorry for your misfortune.

Ever since I bought the grip for my 20D it has never came off. I just recently bought a 350D as back-up and I plan on adding the grip for that body as well.

"Looks" are shallow. Try one and see how it feels in your hand. It gives your pinkie something to do.;)

I have small hands, but quite honestly I can't imagine using a camera without a grip, especially with a longer lens, shooting in portrait orientation a lot or just in general.

My A-1, D30 and 1D2N (obviously) all have grips and they stay on all the time.
