Awesome! Love the photo of Maui. I returned from my 3rd trip to Maui this past September. Took over 900 photo's with my new Canon Digital Rebel 350D bought for the trip but unfortunately only had the standard kit lens :( I should post some here.
Mahalo for sharing with us :)

Stunning work! Lived there from 83-86 and you captured some old haunts.

All handheld?!?!? Wow! Do you mind sharing your technique for taking several pics that line up so well when stitching?

Once again thanks for the kind responses.

The photos were all done on my trusty Canon 10D using a 17-40 f4 L Lens.

When shooting the individual frames of the Panoramic the only real ‘trick’ I have is that I set everything on my camera to manual. This way none of the settings will change and cause different exposures in the shots that can be difficult to overcome later on.

Each frame of the Panoramic is shot multiple times. This way if there are things like waves in the shot I can later choose ones that best line up for the Pano. Or if there are people walking around in the shot that I don’t want to have there I will take multiple shots so I can then more easily remove the person from the image without ‘damaging’ it.

The stitching is done using Panorama Factory v4. Mostly I use the manual setting for this but that is mainly because this is how I’m used to using it. After the ‘main assembly’ is done I save the Panoramic in Photoshop format keeping the layers intact.

Then in Photoshop I perform any minor ‘tweaks’ that are required. I also ensure that I don’t have any hard and/or straight edged seams at this stage. I prefer if all my seams fade in and out and they twist and turn. As the human eye tends to look for straight lines when looking for seams.

My wife is the person who checks over my images once I have completed them and points out any mistakes that I have made. Occasionally she talks me into keep working on an image that I had given up on. A case in point here is the Panoramic taken from Diamond head. As I was going to delete this image as I just couldn’t get 2 frames to blend the way I wanted to. My wife told me it was a great image that she liked and encouraged me to keep at it. I’m glad she did as the image is now one of my favourite ones in this set.
