I've been lusting after this baby for quite awhile. It's supposed to be here Friday!!

I am planning a safari trip this summer - so I have been dreaming of that lens. I hope it is the best you have ever had - as that type feedback will make me finally jump on this item that I know I am going to buy anyway.

I know, I know...that really was my intention. But I can resist everything but temptation!! I gave in to my weakness....

I went to the local Audubon birders' night last night and saw some more fantastic shots with this lens and I just couldn't resist any more. :)

I just took this lens out for its first actual shoot (vs the Duck Blessing Ceremony conducted on POTN).. magnificent. IS is a blessing when you have to shoot animals hiding in the shadow or the shade, when even ISO 1600 will only bring your shutter speed up to 1/200. Lighter weight helps a lot. Push pull is no problem at all as long as you get used to locking and unlocking the tension ring. And full time manual focus is wonderful, I used it a lot when AF missed and locked onto grass in front of the subject.

You will love this one.

the only real downside of this lens is the weight (assuming you're handholding it)
after extended periods it can get a little weighty.
i actually prefer the push pull zoom design....... (you can go from 100-400 faster than you can say twist zoom :))

I use it a lot for astrophotography with a 2x tcon and it gives my telescope a run for its money 8)
