all clear in Mebane. We just got one hell of a soaking for about 10 mins...2nd time I've ever seen it rain so friggin' hard. Watching the radar, Mebane seemed to slip inbetween two major cells. The north cell hit the Alamance/Caswell County line pretty hard, & the southern cell went through Raleigh.

A funnel cloud was spotted in Graham (about 20 mins west of me); there's the monster that ripped through Raleigh/Sanford (45 & ~90 mins east); & then the north cell hit the Alamance/Caswell Cty line pretty harsh too.

Next time...me & my wife'll be headed to my firehouse a block away if anything's headed our way. It's build to stand up to tornadoes...F-3 I think. When we saw Mebane was going thru the "lull" area of the storm, we opted to stay in.

Luckily, we only got paged out for only one car accident during the hard rains...car hydroplaned off I-40/85. No downed trees/power lines or anything of the sort.

Screw these tornadoes dude...I didn't move to NC to deal w/ these d*mn things!

Scary fact: during another tornado threat/warning ripping thru my neck of the woods a couple weeks ago, I learned from the news that NC leads the country in night time deaths due to tornadoes.

Saying hello in this thread from Kings Mountain.

These past two storms were terrible, the first got us bad with tons of hail, damage everywhere. The second missed us for the most part but you guys up in the Raleigh area, whew....pretty bad.

Ready for the weather to settle down!

Glad to hear y"all seem to be fine.

I guess one touchdown was only 15 min from here....4 kids died in a trailer park.It is so sad. We were upstairs observing the thunderstorm and the rain...with the kids!! when I was reading the emergency warning for APEX: SEEK SHELTER NOW !!! ... We didn't even realize what a close call this meant to be. The tornado heading towards us. All our neighbors already hiding (read that on Facebook) and we still upstairs....SCARY ... We are lucky guys, I guess ... My parents freeking out back there in Germany by watching the news and waiting for an email from us...and we sent it late because we didn't even realize how dangerous this was....

Glad u are ok, guys !

Have a great day !!

Probably anyone not west of the Blue Ridge (and I wouldn't even bet on them).

I'm talking about those close to the eye of the storm based on path prediction. So far, the center is projected to be very near my hometown soon after it comes ashore.

Sitting in Beaufort right now. Don't plan on staying though. Waiting till I get off work in the morning to head inland. It's really hard to get the vibe around here. Some people are worried and some act like it's nothing. I'd rather not take any chances.

Blue Ridge got hit hard by Frances and Ivan. So much for path prediction.

It wouldn't be the first time a storm took a funny turn. You can rest assured that even folks in WNC are keeping an eye on this thing.

Yeah. I remember seeing our rental agent's office with no floor and the washing machines hanging over an 8 foot gully from the runoff. I have pics, but I can't find them ATM.
