Rebel XT file names inconsistant

I shoot Adobe RGB color space on my Rebel XT. So, the filenames start with _MG. Without changing color space, some of my files are named IMG and some are named _MG. This puts the images out of shooting order when I download to my MAC. I don't know why the naming would change if I never change color space. I use ImageCapture to download my images to the hard drive.

Also, I have version 1.0.3 firmware installed.

Any ideas?

If you're in the "Basic Zone" it'll only shoot sRGB. Check the shooting mode for these.

I think you have it. My wife borrows may camera and uses basic modes when shooting. I only use P, AV or M when I shoot.

I didn't connect the images with the ones my wife shoots while she uses the camera.
