Woohoo 85mm f1.8

I just bought one. I hesitated for a while between the 85 f1.8 and the 50 f1.4. After going back and forth to the shop, taking test shots and portraits, and since I have a 60mm, I opted for the 85. Man what a lens. I'm under the impression that it has a better bokeh than the 50?

I prefer the 50's bokeh

I dunno about the bokeh, but the 85 is a wonderful lens.

Great lens, you'll get a lot of nice portraits with that lens.

I'm gearing up to get one. I've been trying to do portraits with a 50mm and its just the wrong focal length for me to do portraits. I'm pretty sure the 85mm is the ticket and I see so many good reviews and happy owners, plus the pictures posted are beautiful.

I have both, and use the 85 MUCH more...I like both too...

The one advantage the 50 would have over the 60 though would be (f/1.4-f/2.5). But sinc eyou have it, yeah, congratulations with your 85.

The 50 has good Bokeh, but it actually is supposed to be the other way around, with the 85 having better.

I too owned the 50/1.4 for awhile and changed over to the 85/1.8.
Sure the 50 is great (a little better than the 85) but it is basically silly spending so much on a 50mm lens when one can own the 85 AND the 50/1.8 for not much more
