Yours is hacked for sure if its saying custom fucntions (C.Fn) I started out with the 300d, it's a great camera to learn on. It's such a different camera when it has the hack installed. I upgraded to the XT cause I got a good deal but I miss the 300'd size.

Communication PIP and normal determines how it talks to your pc when you connect it to download photos. Some computers only see the camera in normal mode, some others see it only in pip mode. If you're using a card reader this option is worthless.

Where do you get the hack from?

Nice to see peeps still using the 300D! MLU was the main reason I added the hack.

Wow ! Thanks Ogrt .. :)
Ok .. soo err .. I am using a card reader (SanDisk Ultra II 1 GB card).. what other way should I be uploading the images? I'm assuming you're gonna say by direct plug-in from the camera?

And I'm not sure I'll ever use the MLU feature, as all I mostly shoot are models .. however, something about the ETTL, or .. I remember reading here (somewhere) where the hack is nice for an aftermarket flash? I cant remember .. I'll do a search and try to find the thread .. (it is here, correct?) that lists all the neat things that this firmware hack offers me with my 300D? :D

I do have the Metz 60 CT3 (2 of them) and would really like to get the 3102 and the 3000c modules, and get this bad boy lit up ..

I love the BG-E1 grip as well, really feels aLOT better, and my GOD, batteries last forEVER! This thing takes amazing images, and to have photoshop to enhance a bit of sharpness, and play a pinch with levels .. is an extra help.

I'm really lovin this site you guyz .. you folks are on the ball .. lots a talent, not to mention .. the knowledge here far exceeds any of my wildest dreams ...

Thanks !

And what is this MLU feature? I found the hack and update the camera with it. Now everytime I trided to set a feature unter the CF menu option it resorted back to the default seting I never could figure out how to set an option. Could someone help me.

Ok .. I'm not sure if this has been posted here yet .. if it has .. the search function here simply does'nt like me .. :eyes
Or, I could be using it improperly .. :p

Nonetheless .. I was successful with google, in finding what features are what, and how it could benefit us Rebel owners by using this firmware ..

Pretty good explanation of everything, with photos .. lol!

This should be a stickie .. uuhh .. unless it already is? .. lmao .. should I have checked there first? Owell .. anyone doing a search for: 300D Firmware .. should/would hopefully come up with this thread, and therefore .. the link .. and .. well .. my work here is done .. lol

I also answered my own question, in that FEC is Flash Exposure Compensation .. sigh .. but .. if I'm using my Metz 60CT3 with the firmware .. (or not) why would I need FEC? I do like the fact that I'm able to *sync* at a higher shutter speed tho .. :)

Omy .. it is amazing what one can find in the *stickys* .. sigh ..

Don't forget to "unhack" if you ever have to send it to Canon.

Thanks for the reminder joe....but my 300D is at least 3 years old now, so I won't be sending it anywhere !! I just want to do some more practicing to buy time until the 40D comes out !!

I updated to hacked firmware two or three years ago, so my memory is fuzzy.

But it didn't take long - I dunno, maybe a minute or so...
