Anybody seen this? I know the HAMA adapter for example basically magnifies the image from the FD lens so the EOS' sensor can correctly "read the image"? Is that close to correct?

The sample images he shows look pretty good......

His article is just a bit technical for me.....

I thought IQ suffers quite a bit by having to use an adapter for the FD lens...how is it the adapter he used doesn't seem to degrade image quality?

None of those are actually Canon FD lenses - The Celestron mirror, for instance, is basically the Celestron 90 mm spotting scope with a T adapter on it; he could have got an EOS T-mount for a lot less trouble. The Elmarit's a Leica mount, not FD.

But IQ suffers when you use an optical converter to retain infinity focus with your FD lenses - something he's not doing. All he's really done is built an EOS-FD extension tube.

I'm also somewhat dubious of the apparent claim that Hama is now sourcing Canon's EOS-FD optical adapter.

The HAMA adapter can be had at B&H for about $120....

Thanks..I think I'm starting to understand the ups and downs of FD and EOS usage now...

I know people recommend against the ones found on ebay....but I think for $30 I would like to find out myself....sometimes you have to just find out the hard way.

At the very least, I would just like to tinker around with my dad's old FD lenses as they haven't seen any use in about 20 years :)
