This blue jay was eating flies or something in my neighboors backyard, I almost got one without the buds in his face but they opened the door and he bolted:

Thank you Ari Tapio , olen kuvannut nelisatasella 4 vuotta , paras kurki/lentolentokuva tähänmennessä , otettu muuten 5d2:lla joka on liian hidas lentokuviin , hope others like it too !

Sähän olet jo melkein veteraani, itsellä linssi ollut vasta vajaan vuoden : )
Each time you go out with this lens, it suprises you somehow (mostly positively), heh.
As long you remember it's limitations.

i just paid mine a few mins ago, i was debating if this or the 300mm IS, but decided to get this since usually you always want a longer reach. im excited! now what can i shoot here in nyc, with all the buildings around. :) is the extension tube good enough to get like butterflies and some insects? also what bag is good to get with this lens. thanks!

Congatulations, you have made a good choice :) Central Park I think, you should go?
I shot this little flower with 68 mm Kenko tubes and I am pretty pleased with it.
I am looking forward to shoot butterflies also, but haven't had chance yet.
I purchased Lowepro Pro Runner 300 AW backpack, and found it to be perfect at least for me with this lens.

Beautiful Dunlin image. They've always been too far away from me to get decent images.

Hi guys. I am new to this forum but figured I would share some of my shots. I got this lens about a month ago and absolutely love it. I was worried about the lack of IS, since I predominantly shoot hand-held. However, as long as the lighting isnt terrible and your camera handles ISO well, it is a very useful lens. I recently tried it on a tripod as well to get a slower shutter speed, and it was razer sharp (Although I didn't take anything meaningful to upload and show ). Anyway, I have a few links to pics I figured I would post. I am NOT spamming or trying to draw traffic to my site ( in fact it has barely even been started ). I just prefer this way to to ensure HQ and protection for my images.....and its much faster. Be sure to click the image and then choose the "X2" size.

Great shots Copperpotphoto! with good lighting, it is a great lens, some uses flashes with better beamer for extra light. i just got the lens this morning and have to try it out next week. with my shaky hands, i most likely need at least a monopod unless im shooting BIF. for low light, im not sure if my 50d is good enough. i usually see them shooting with 7d or 1d cameras.

Thanks. Those were all shot with a 7D and no flash. I have a better beamer and 580ex., but since you need 1/250th or less for flash sync, it would require a tripod as well. So if the outdoor lighting is decent, I would rather just use the sun:D

You don't need 1/250 or less ... put your flash on HSS (high speed synch) and you lose that requirement.

Good point, but you also wind up with weaker flash bursts. So I guess it depends on the situation. If I was shooting closer up small birds with am extension tube on that may be sufficient, but then again, I have never actually tried it. Have you used HSS with a better beamer?
