Shot some this morning early and used the Kenko 2x MC4 DGX extender. All of the below were at 800mm/f11.0 and of course MF on a monopod.

@Ron - I sure need to learn a trick or two from you about MF (and some sharpening may be?). I mean 800mm and that sharp, you got some serious skills.

i wonder if he uses those focusing screen, i read its good too see if its really in focus.

Gareth, i have a set of the Kenko tubes but have not ever tested them out to see how much the MFD would be reduced but " Methodical " has and he would be the best member i know to shoot a PM to and ask this question.
