It works great at the beach hanging out your vehicle window or shooting daylight sporting events of people. It has just been primarily used as a poor mans telephoto prime for wildlife & birds. Lightweight and great fast AF for BIF also. The hood is permanently attached and simply extends & retracts which is a feature i wish was used on more lenses. http://www.the-digital-picture.com …duct-Images.aspx?Lens=278 This lens works nice on small bird species out to around 20ft. and that distance increases with the subject size.
