The lens is everything that I've read and lusted after for all these years: fast focusing, super sharp wide open and relatively light weight. In fact, when I received the box at UPS, I thought they made a mistake, there's no way that a 400mm lens can fit in a box that small. The lens works really well with the used 1DmkIIN and I bought a Manfrotto monopod to go with the setup. Together they rest nicely on my shoulder when I'm hiking through the trails.
. great shots of the pintail and the ring-neck. the focus on the eagle was spot on too!
