The 400/5.6 just got 100% better folks. Forget it being a little slow at 5.6, the 50D is going to change all that and add 1 1/2 stops at least with it's better higher ISO coverage. ;)

Is it that good? i cant believe they have brought out a 50D so soon after the 40D being released though. Good for us though

Well, I am one of the biggest big company skeptics, and I just got my 40D in January, but I like what I see very much. A 15.1Mp sensor and Digic4 processor will allow much tighter crops to keep up image quality, than ever before. This means, the 400/5.6 just became a 500. Also it is supposed to go to ISO 12,800. Even if it does a good job at ISO 800, that just doubles the value of f/5.6 IMO. But enough for now, there are a number of threads in the camera talk forum about it. I just wanted to mention, that as good as the lens is, what's behind it just got a lot better. :)

I use my 400 5.6 lens collar on the 70-200 f4 with no problems.

This is an excellent lens and some awesome photos in this thread.

Went to the NC Zoo yesterday great place.Red wolf 40D 1/640 5.6 3200 ISO, i know i wanted to shoot at lower speeds but this is the only speed that worked great for the conditions very hard conditions deep shade to harsh contrast.

I love the picture tho it went under a face lift removed the high iso's to a degree:p adjusted the curves, adjusted the white balance, Tell me what you think.Sean .L:)
