Canon EF 400mm f/5.6L USM

Your small bird shots almost look like you use a macro lens. Are you using Kenko extension tubes with the 400mm 5.6 in order to decrease the MFD? If so, doesn't that make this already slow lens that much slower, thus making focusing difficult? Also, what camera body are you using and are you adding a 1.4x teleconverter?

I'm trying to decide which one to buy in order to get your amazing results:
1. canon 400mm f5.6 prime -- 35mm format
2. Canon 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 II -- 35mm format
3. Olympus E-M1 with 40-150mm zoom + 1.4X TC. -- micro 4/3 format

7D MKII and 400 F 5.6

I have been thinking about getting this lens but have worried that Im going to have the focusing problem, I will be putting it on the 70D, I see a lot of these pictures are shot with the 7D II are you having the same problems with the center focusing as the 70D owners. Thanks Robert
