Is this in response to my Q below Iain? therobveiller wrote in post #18149043 Has anyone in this thread ever sold their 400mm for say the Sigma 150-600 Contemporary. If so, were you pleased with the change or not? I love how sharp the 400L is wide open and have taken many pleasing shots with it, but I often struggle with the lack of IS and as a result get too many fails of late. This is usually due to the low light on grey days in the UK, and so ISO has to go up high and even then shutter speed is still too slow to avoid camera shake. I’d like the 100-400 mk2 as I know that is as good at 400mm as the prime, but it’s a bit out of my price bracket at the moment so having to think about the Sigma, especially as the trade-in on the 400L is poor from the usual retail suspects in the UK. If yes, then just to let you know I went ahead and bought the Sigma 150-600 Contemporary and sold the Canon 400 a few weeks later. The only regret I have is that I didn't do it sooner! The images are every bit as sharp.
