My mom loaned her 20D to someone who in turn loaned it to someone else and the lens came back broken. It is a Canon 28-200 lens. There is a piece of plastic rattling around inside preventing the lens from retracting back to 28mm, it stops at the 35mm mark. So my question is, is this lens (about $300) worth sending to Canon repair? What kind of price does canon charge for repairs (an average, I know no one can give me an exact price or everything). The lens is about 4 years old, was my first lens and then I sold it to my mom with my 20D a few months ago, would be a shame to lose it. Thanks!
