Manual Lenses

Does anybody here know of websites for finding fully manual lenses? I am looking for a wide angle lens, fully manual (Reason being is I want to have the focus meterings on the lens, something these EF lenses lack). I was wondering if there are any places that still manufacture a good prime 2.8 wide angle lens which could be used with an adapter with my Rebel XT. I preferably would like the 17mm f1.4 FD lens by Canon, but they no longer make the FD series lenses.

Thanks a ton

Ps. The focus meterings are essential, for I need them for zone focusing for street photography.

I know that you can get new Nikon mount MF lenses, although I think these are about to 'dry-up'. Voigtländer are making them for Nikon fit as well.
I'm sure you can get Nikon to Canon EF converters.

Here is a link to a shop near me that sells them, they ship worldwide:

The FD lenses won't focus to infinity with the EF adaptor, and the glass element(s) in them degrades the optics somewhat I've heard.

Not sure if this helps you...

If you are trying to focus hyperfocally etc then most non-budget EF and EF-S lenses have a distance scale, the primes will also include the traditional DOF markings. I have a table with this sort of info here (external link).

However due to the small focus arc of AF lenses they are not well graduated as the old FD lenses were.

You could try a nikon adaptor and nickon prime for example. Alternativily the Canon tilt and shift lenses are manual focus and the distance and DOF scales look very much like FD lenses from photographs (I don't have one.)

Gotta love that 17mm f/1.4 lens!

You can find screwmounts on ebay for OK price. There's the m42, nikons, contaxes, leicas... if you're crazy enough.

Canon didn't make a 17 1.4, it was f/4. Excellent lens! Much better then the 20mm. I'm thinking of selling mine to fund a new lens. The market is dying for these lenses so I'm trying to sell sooner then later. Keep your eyes out on Ebay, KEH/B&H are WAY too expensive. If you buy from them and then months later try to sell it you'll lose lots of money (I know this from experience sadly!)

Yeh, I couldn't aford it, had to use the Tokina 17mm f3.5, not a bad lens but the colour was a bit yellow, only non-Canon lens I had.
