Are they losing their grip that they need to do have a TV commercial for the D80? :D.

Huh?

I caught an infection and haven't been thinking right for the last couple days. I edited the first post to make sense.

I am referring to a D80 commercial I just saw on TV 2-3 times already.

If you look like this, then Canon has lost their grip long ago already ;) At least in Europe they had TV commercial already for 300d :)

Heh, never saw it, and don't see any commericals on the air for them right now.

Saw the Canon one in the UK the other day, so looks like they've lost their grip as well :-)

It wouldn't surprise me to see adds for a particularly landmark model -which the D80 pretty much is

I'd say they're on the way out the door. Advertising hasn't worked for Coke, Nike or Microsoft, you know?

Weird, wonder why I have never seen one, heh. I'm in Canada, but I still get quite a few American channels?

At least you can turn them off.

I'm ususally put off by any camera commercial. They show people (always smiling) taking quick snaps that always turn out perfectly. The finished image they show on the commercial is NOT the one that was snapped by the actor/actress. While only the most gulliblel people would ever think it was, they might be led into believing that it takes no more thought than that to get that kind of picture.

They all do it, and it's misleading. It must sell cameras, though, or they wouldn't do it.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

dSLR are within many peoples reach now compared to 3 years ago.
I think it is perfectly normal to advertise your most popular product to wider audience even if they going to shoot on auto mode. no money = no business.

In the commercial from what I remember, they show the viewfinder af points above the final image with bokeh and whatever, and then just make that snap noise and remove the af points, making it look like you are seeing exactly what you saw through the viewfinder, even though we all know you don't see bokeh for example in your viewfinder.

Thanks for the links with the videos, I'll take a look in a minute.
