Should i buy the 400D or the Sony Alpha?

for me sony was never an option. it was between Canon and Nikon. I read several reviews held both cameras and even though ive had 5 or so Canon P&S cameras i was leaning toward Nikon. In the end it came down to affordability and support. the canon gave similar quality photos, cost less and appeared to me to have a more supportive (not to mention free) forum for users to get and give help. didn't hurt that there are a truck load of add-ons and even aftermarket options for the canon.

As a total newb to this forum, I recently picked the XTi for my step up into the world of SLR cameras. Seems I have a good sense for fundamentals in various industries and I can sniff out the right direction to go typically. I have to admit though, my Dad was a camera buff and in the 1950's, even worked at Eastman Kodak. But that did't help me much here however. No, I just have always looked to Canon for cameras period. Sure there are others out there that can take a quality picture but there is so much more to it than that.

One other thing, show me a Sony camera forum that ROCKS like this Canon forum huh, huh, huh?! I'm glad I picked the Canon for the many folks here that are so damn helpful to even the greenest of rookies like me. No attitude, all photography. Gotta luv it! 8)
