This is a friend of mine who surfs for Rusty surfboards. I was able to get above him on this very nice barrel ride. He did manage to make it out also.
He was doing the peace sign with his left hand. Can anyone suggest how to make that stand out more?

That's a great shot. Did you take this from the pier or the rock break?

Excellent shot! With my talent level which is not much at all I can't see how to improve the peace sign. :(

nice shot, sorry don't have any trics for you abou the peace sign. It looks like from this shot that he is holding his hand straight out and his peace sign os paralell with the board. Next time have him try and hold the peace sign perpendicular to the board (up and down) if that makes sense and it will be a little more prominent. You just can't see it very well in this shot and I can't think of any way to make it more obvious, sorry. Good luck!

I agree with what you are saying about hand placement. I think next time it would be more clear with the peace sign vertically. I will tell him to have the back of his hand facing the camera to avoid shadows over his other closed fingers. Does that sound right?

There really isn't much that can be done with highlighting the peace sign because of the angle of the shot unless you really blur out the surfer and just put a spotlight on the fingers (not so nice IMHO). Here's my take on it....some croping just to bring the focus more on the surfer and not on the waves....
realy cool shot though!
