Look at the contents.

Wow, must be like five hundred thousand dollars worth of stuff (atleats what it costed new, haha.) Theres even a rollex in there. Wonder why this guy has so much stuff, why he is selling it all, and why he put all these items in one auction. I don't know anything about bodies, but some of those look damn old. Wonder if he is a long-time photographer who is in his 80's now or something and wanting to sell off all his stuff he used in his younger days.

Edit :: like the first line is that he's 68, haha.

Assuming he used those bodies throughout his lifetime, and did not just collect them, there must be amazing stories behind every lens and body.

Holy cow. That page takes forever to load even on high speed 1.5M DSL. Talk about instant collection.....that is half a lifetime's worth of gear to play with!

He does say near the end of the description that he spent 60 hours preparing for listing
I cant imagine why he couldnt split them up into groups or individual items ( or what he hopes to gain by selling as one lot) he may as well have got a dealer to quote for the lot as surely no individual will buy the lot ( unless hes a dealer)

Wow.. It's like an Ansel Adams garage sale!!

Can you imagine the PayPal charges if he manages to sell that lot?

Holy Cr@p! I'm just betting he figured it was quicker to lump it all in one auction rather than split it up into several lots. I guess he's not terribly worried about money and doesn't mind that he'd probably get more in separate auctions.

It seems kind of odd to me. He probably got it all in a box from an estate sale and is just throwing it on ebay to see if it sells.

That's a massive listing. I can't imagine it selling unless it's broken up into individual lots. Heck, he could start a camera shop website to sell that lot!

The ad was a failure for me - it never finished loading on my elderly web-connected PC (a Dell Dimension L600CX on broadband).

That is one crazy way to shift so much gear. Even in the digital age there is a major market for that kind of stuff, and as everyone has said, he would do so much better if it was broken up into small lots.

Quite apart from that, would YOU wire $45K into someone's account without hesitation? I wouldn't even buy a Rebel XTi on ebay....

I'm with you on that. I don't even trust paypal with all that withdrawal crap they can do. I'm hesitant to sell my PS3 because I'm scared after I ship some idiot is going to say it was packed with books and make me go through a bunch of hoops. And nobody wants to EMT more then a few hundred bucks.

To be fair, he has a substantial amount of feedback, and with an ad that long, it's not like some kiddie just created an auction for a quick $45k scam. At the same time, a true con artist would take his time and make it look legit, right? Who knows though..
