most of the guys on this forum use Photshop (under correcttion

EMBED PREVENTED, GIFS ARE NOT RENDERED INLINE
when post is by a member with less than 30 posts)
http://www.outdoorphoto.co.za …/images/smilies/smile.gif
) but I was wondering if some of you guys have worked with the Corel range of products as well as the Adobe range of products and how they compare.

If anyone has worked with Adobe Illustartor and Corel Draw for vector creation then please le me know as I am currently exploring this design technique - and need a few pointers

You will find 3rd party products support for the Adobe line that are not supported for Corel ,, Adobe also has the trump card in Photoshop as its the industry standard and everything supports PS , everything !
Adobe also just bought Macromedia so pretty much has the Image and motion graphic market cornered ,, PS , Illustrator , After Effects , Prem Pro , Indesign , all great robust programs that fit together like a glove .
The one Corel program that I love using is Corel Painter , great program that was going nowhere untill ,, they reworked the interface to fit Photoshop users .
My advice is to go Adobe ,, Illustrator is a killer app !

I much prefer PSP X to PS CS2 (I have been using it for years).

It is more user friendly though (you even get a file open button).

As a graphic Designer, the standard in the business is Adobe, Illustrator trumps Corel hands down. Quark is the only competition Adobe has (Its still more popular than InDesign), but InDesign is gain ground. If you plan on going to school for design, you most likely will be using a lot of Illustrator, Indesign, Quark, and a little Photoshop. For some reason you will spend the least amount of time with Photoshop and most with InDesign or Quark (since they both do the same thing).

I am not saying Coral sux, but it's just not as popular as Adobe products.

As mentioned in the prvious post, industry standards are Illustrator, P/Shop, Quark and Freehand with some people changing to Indesign.

I run a repro studio and most of our work is food carton design and everybody uses Illustrator. Packages like quark and indesign are meant for magazine work and are very good at it, but for design go for Illus or Freehand, my staff are divided 50/50 as to which is more capable.

In the repro/printing trade you will find anything by Corel is fround upon!

Hi,

Corel's PaintShopPro Photo XI is currently selling at Best Buy for $29.99. I've also seen new copies on e-bay for the same price.

I have used Adobe PhotoShop (not CS2) in the past and find it to be extremely powerful. With my editing needs however, forking out several hundred dollars would be overkill, and it is money I could use toward equipment.

I find that PSPP XI works for most of what I want/need to do, and at a fraction of the price of CS2. It saves on my hard drive space too.

For the non-professional user, at $29.99, PaintShopPro Photo XI is definitely worth trying.
